ABOUT DR VENKATESH MUNIKRISHNAN
Dr Venkatesh Munikrishnan was born in Chennai in 1972 and received his schooling at the Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. He completed his MBBS at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai in 1995. He went to England in 1996 for his specialist training in surgery. He completed his basic surgical training at Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals in the UK. . He was appointed as Clinical Research Fellow at the University College London in 2000 to undertake research into screening for colorectal cancer and successfully published his work in reputed medical journals and presented his work at various international meetings. He was awarded the Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) of Edinburgh in 2000. He was appointed as Specialist Registrar in General/Colorectal Surgery to the UK South West Higher Surgical Training Programme in 2003. He has developed a specialist interest in the management of all colorectal diseases. He is a very keen teacher and is actively involved in teaching surgical techniques to post graduates both in India and in the UK. He was admitted to the Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Edinburgh on passing the Intercollegiate Examination. He subsequently underwent advanced training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery in the South West of England. He is currently Clinical Lead and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Institute of Colorectal Surgery, Apollo Hospitals (Main), Greams Road, Chennai
